Our most popular system, and for good reason.
The Installation Process
How it works
The decorative flake system is a multi-layer coating process, not a single-coat paint. Here is what goes into every installation we complete.
First, we diamond-grind the concrete to mechanically profile the surface and open the pores for maximum adhesion. Any cracks or surface damage are repaired at this stage before any coating is applied. We then apply a 100% solid epoxy base coat at the correct mil thickness.
While the base coat is still wet, we broadcast multi-colored vinyl chips across the entire surface to full rejection, meaning the chips cover the surface completely with no base coat visible. Once the base coat cures, we scrape off any standing chips and apply a durable polyurethane or polyaspartic clear topcoat that locks in the flakes, protects against abrasion, and sets the final finish level.
Each layer bonds to the one beneath it, and the entire system bonds mechanically to prepared concrete. This is why our floors do not peel.
The Difference Between a Proper Install and a One-Day Kit
Why It Lasts
Hardware store epoxy kits work by applying a water-based, diluted coating over concrete that has not been mechanically profiled. The product sits on top of the slab rather than bonding into it, which is why it starts peeling within a year or two, usually accelerated by the first serious freeze-thaw cycle or an oil spill that softens the coating.
We diamond-grind every surface before a single coat goes down. It adds time to the process. It is also the reason we offer a 10-year warranty, and the kit-based contractors do not.
